THE AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION RECOMMENDS TWO CLEANINGS/EXAM A YEAR
Dental fillings are a restorative treatment used to repair minor to moderate tooth damage. They are typically recommended when your child’s teeth develop cavities or sustain minor fracturing or chipping. Our dentists will use only composite, or tooth-colored, filling material to give your child a long-lasting and naturally beautiful final result.
When your child receives a filling, our dentists will first clean their tooth to remove damaged or decayed tooth material. The filling material will then be applied and shaped to match the natural contours of your child’s tooth before being hardened. This entire treatment can be completed in just one appointment.
Fillings are a less invasive treatment option, working to restore the shape, appearance and strength of the tooth. They help your child regain a healthy smile as well as preventing them from needing more extensive care to regain their smile.
Composite dental fillings restore your child’s teeth to give them back a healthy, beautiful smile. Our dentists may recommend a filling if your child develops a cavity or sustains minor cracking or other tooth damage. Dental fillings are recommended to treat teeth with minor to moderate tooth damage, such as that caused by tooth decay or fracturing or chipping. They work by literally “filling in” the damaged areas of the tooth, restoring the structure, shape and appearance of the tooth so that your child can once again enjoy a healthy smile. Fillings are more conservative than other treatment options and will preserve more of your child’s tooth structure.
Here at Children & Family Dentistry & Braces, we use only composite filling materials, meaning that your child’s filling is tooth-colored and will blend in perfectly with their teeth. Our dentists will first clean your child’s tooth thoroughly, then place the filling material and shape it to match the contours of the tooth. Finally, the filling material will be hardened and polished to complete their treatment. Fillings can be completed in just one appointment.
