Dental sealants are a preventive treatment used to help protect your teeth from cavities. They are made of a clear or tooth-colored resin that is painted onto your teeth. This resin then “seals” the tooth to prevent bacteria, plaque and food debris from causing decay.
Sealants are most commonly provided for children when their permanent teeth come in. However, adults can also receive this treatment, and it may be recommended if they are prone to developing cavities.
Our dentists can apply your sealants in a single appointment. We will begin by cleaning your teeth, then use a solution of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. The sealant will then be painted onto your teeth and hardened with a curing light.
